Interivew with Moe Minkara at brandoctor.com
Marko: Heya Moe!
Moe: Hey!!!
Marko: For our reader’s could you tell something about yourself? (year old and other stuff)
Moe: hmm well, I’m originally Lebanese, I was born in Beirut, then I moved around, grew up in Paris, studied in London, and now I’m here in Croatia (great place by the way). I’m geographically confused!!! I am the founder of Brandoctor, and currently work as creative director in Brandoctor, and in the sister company Bruketa & Žinić
Marko: How are you doing these days?
Moe: recuperating! December was a crazy month, loads of work, loads of party’s
but looking forward to a great new year… I’m an optimist!
Marko: When did you first encounter a keyboard or computer?
Moe: commodore 64!!! if that even qualifies as a computer! early 80’s
Marko: What is your favorite art work /website!?
Moe: Brandoctor! very proud of it at the moment, was a lot of hard work, but paid off in my opinion!
Marko: when you launched brandoctor.com are you happy with the result of the site?
Moe: Absolutely, but it’s never up to me to be happy… the question is are you happy with it?
Marko: What do you do in your spare time (We realize that spare time, in this context)
Moe: hmm… it took while to answer to this one… I had to check up (spare time) in the dictionary! I really havn’t had spare time lately… I guess I’m a workaholic, but the good news is I love what I do… so I don’t really feel the time pass. When I do get some time off, I travel back home (Beirut) the most incredible place to party, get some fantastic food, and relax.
Marko: Do you have a favorite drink? How much of it do you drink?
Moe: Jack coke!!! Jack Daniel’s. How much of it… Hmmm lets just say me and Jack are good friends!
Marko: Would you care to give us a brief overview of what a typical day is like for Moe Minkara?
Moe: Very stressful, but loads of fun! I work with a bunch of creative people, so we do a lot of brainstorming, and a lot of brandstorming! Work starts at 9… ehm… well around 10 – 10:30 for me… back to back meetings, lots of client servicing! lots of time with my creatives before I know it its 9pm… Guess I’m lucky, I have fun clients, my latest work, was the launch of Tele2, you are a Tele2 user aren’t you Marko?
Marko: yes I am :)
Marko: I am always wondering how people such as yourself go about getting work? How do you do it?
Moe: If you mean (go about getting work) as in clients and projects, I would have to answer that our work speaks for itself, and brings in more work. If you mean me physically looking for work, I haven’t done that for a while, but I’m offering work… interested?
Marko: well lemmec think about it :)
Marko: Who are some of your biggest influences?
Moe: my mom… my current business partners… my belief in some bigger power that always assures me that nothing is impossible…
Marko: Is your background in design? What was the progression into web development and design like?
Moe: My background is not in design, but i picked it up over the years, my background is in branding and advertising.
Marko: If you where not a designer/programmer what would you be?
Moe: well given I’m not a designer, but a creative director, I can’t think of anything else I would prefer doing. I’m in an (I love my job) phase of my life… who knows in few years… maybe I can become an astronaut! :) Anything creative will do!
Marko: How do you like our site mcville.net?
Moe: Great! ‘Chapeau bas’ as they say in French
Marko: If you could change something on mcville what would it be?
Moe: maybe make it a but livelier color wise… other wise nothing… its cool
Marko: What kind of music do you fancy?
Moe: It all depends on the mood. I do prefer alternative though… I’m into cold play.. pearl jam… STP… old school alternative. don’t mind underground, techno, R&B when I’m out though…
Marko: What’s your favorite food?
Moe: Lebanese food!!! have you ever tried it? I’m a Mediterranean guy at heart!
Marko: Where do you get out on Saturday’s?
Moe: It really depends, on my mood, and who I’m hanging out with. Sometimes my favorite thing to do is a quiet dinner, other time, bar hopping till morning… usually depends on what kind of day I had at work…
some relaxing question to follow
Moe: ahhhh…. siesta… fijaka…
Marko: :D Chinese or Thai (food)?
Moe: Thai!!! im a sucker for spicy things!
Marko: Coke or Pepsi?
Moe: Coke! More gas less sugar in my personal opinion…
Marko: html or css?
Moe: hmmm… is this a trick question???
Marko: Do you watch television? If so, do you have a favorite show?
Moe: 24! American show with Keifer Sutherland… great gets you hooked!
Marko: What would we find in your favorites bookmarks-bar?
Moe: enriching literature and enlightening people…
Marko: What inspires you? This doesn’t have to be design related.
Moe: Music… Friends… the Sea!!!
