Interivew with Jason Csizmadi – dangergraphics.com
Marko:Hello Jason !
Jason:Hey Marko.
Marko:For our reader’s could you tell something about yourself? (year old and other stuff)
Jason:Well, Marko I’m 31 years old. I was born and raised in Greeley Colorado. I grew up wanting to be a comic book artist, I majored in illustration in college before going into web design. It’s kind of funny, my initiation into web design is kind of a fluke. I had no interested in web design in college. I ended up taking a web design course because a girl I was interested in signed up for the internet course. It turned out to be a great move on my part. I ended up really liking the web class and made a career out of it. As for the girl that didn’t work out.
Marko:How are you doing these days?
Jason:I doing good, found a company I really like working for.
Marko:When did you first encounter a keyboard or computer?
Jason:My first experience with computers was in school will a program called logo, you know the old apple II program that you could draw shapes with.
Marko:What is your favorite art work /website!?
Jason:I’m big fan of John Hicks. My favorite artiste is comic book artist Jason Scott Campbell of Dangergirl fame.
Marko:When you launched dangergraphics.com are you happy with the result of the site?
Jason:That is hard question to answer. I’m so hard on my self when it comes to personal work that I never really feel satisfied. It took me so long to get my new site designed and launched, you would not believe the number of designs I went through. I guess the short answer is yes I’m happy with the design.
Marko:What do you do in your spare time (I do realize that spare time, in this context, is pretty relative)?
Jason:I tend to find my self in front of the mac even in my spare time; but when I’m not doing that I’m watching football or hockey. I’ve also been known to play a couple of hours of xbox live a week. I get killed allot, kids today are hardcore.
Marko:Do you have a favorite drink? How much of it do you drink?
Jason:Like most web designers Mountain Dew is my drink of choice.
Marko:Would you care to give us a brief overview of what a typical day is like for Jason Csizmadi?
Jason:Lets see. I get up late for work of course. Grab the dog, head out the door. After dragging the dog back into the apartment I jump into the car and head for work. At work log into basecamp to see what my work day looks like. I launch netnewswire to see what’s going on in the world. Then check my site stats and the sports page. The rest of the day consists of project work meeting with account service folks. I like to try and get a game of foosball in, do a little more reading in netnewswire and maybe hit macsurfer a couple of times. That’s kind of typical, nice and relaxing day.
Marko:I am always wondering how people such as yourself go about getting work? How do you do it?
Jason:I like working for agency’s wether that’s an print or interactive agency. I don’t really like freelance work. I will take a freelance project every-once in a while if the project is something I’m interested in.
Marko:Who are some of your biggest influences?
Jason:It’s hard to say, I’m a big fan of Hicks Design, Stop Design, Cameron Moll as well as a long list of others.
Marko:Is your background in design? What was the progression into web development and design like? How did that take place and why?
Jason:As I mentioned before it was kind of fluke, I signed up for the web design class in college because of a girl. As it turns out I really like web design and was good at it. What I like most about web design is that requires both design and technical ability. I like trying new things at work, I like the challenge.
Marko:If you where not a designer/programmer what would you be?
Jason:I would love to be a comic book artist.
Marko:How do you like our site mcville.net?
Jason:It’s a good starting point. I think their are something that could be improved but you have to start somewhere.
Marko:What kind of music do you fancy?
Jason:I’ve been digging the new Nada Surf Cd. It’s a little more mellow than I like but I’m hooked.
Marko:What’s your favorite food?
Jason:Big Pizza fan.
Marko:Where do you get out on Saturday’s?
Jason:I usually hit the local park with the dog. It’s a great place for picking up chicks.
