Interview with Nickolai Siskevich at advancedfusion.net
Marko: Hello Nickolai !
Nickolai: Hello Marko!
Marko: For our reader’s could you tell something about yourself? (year old and other stuff)
Nickolai: I’m 26, I live in the city of Minsk, in Belarus – it is in Europe, between Russia and Poland. Since 18 years old I’ve been keen on web design and computer graphics, and finally it developed into a professional occupation.
Marko: How are you doing these days?
Nickolai: I’m fine, thanx. I’m happy with my work.
Marko: When did you first encounter a keyboard or computer?
Nickolai: Well, at the first time it happened at the age of 11-12 in a computer game club.
Marko: What is your favorite art work /website!?
Nickolai: It turns so that at different times I liked works (websites) of different styles and graphic design.
Here is a short list of favourites, not only websites of which, but also their portfolios, are of great interest:
Marko: when you launched advancedfusion.net are you happy with the result of the site?
Nickolai: Yes, I’m quite happy with the result and I’m not going to stop at this stage. My project collection will soon be replenished with some new items.
Marko: What do you do in your spare time (We realize that spare time, in this context)
Nickolai: In my spare time I do everything other people do: fall in love, go to the cinema, listen to music, travel, sometimes just lounge, and learn everything new and interesting.
Marko: Do you have a favorite drink? How much of it do you drink?
Nickolai: Yeah, It’s mango juice. I drink it quite often.
Marko: Would you care to give us a brief overview of what a typical day is like for Nickolai Siskevich ?
Nickolai: Currently I work as a freelance designer, that’s why I’ve got no clear order of day. The first thing in the morning is checking the e-mail. Next I make a work plan for the next day or week, or look through it if it’s been already made. After that I fulfil all the points of the plan according to their priority. This may include customer prospecting, business calls and negotiations, working out requirements specifications for the project, website design development, html template layout, discussing a project with programmer, testing projects, etc.
Marko: I am always wondering how people such as yourself go about getting work? How do you do it?
Nickolai: Just as thousands of companies do it. Some clients address me directly having noticed my website, some clients are referred by the customers that I’ve already dealt with, some are found by me – direct phone calls, direct business offer mailing, etc.
Marko: Who are some of your biggest influences?
Nickolai: People behind the names of the companies I’ve mentioned above.
Marko: Is your background in design? What was the progression into web development and design like?
Nickolai: Actually, I haven’t run a college or university course on design. I’ve learned on my own everything I do now. And I’m constantly in the process of self-education, all the time learning something new. Also when working for a large company I’ve learned some basic foundations from other strong efficient designers.
Marko: If you where not a designer/programmer what would you be?
Nickolai: It’s hard to answer this question, may be I’d run some small business.
Marko: How do you like our site mcville.net?
Nickolai: A neat website. Logo lettering is good.
Marko: If you could change something on mcville what would it be?
Nickolai: May be I’d add some 1 or 2 colors and some beautiful background. And perhaps I’d change title font – for example into Times New Roman.
Marko: What kind of music do you fancy?
Nickolai: I love many music styles: hip-hop, hardcore, electronics.
Marko: What’s your favorite food?
Nickolai: Pizza, a sort of barbecue named shashlik, and fried potatoes with meat rissoles.
Marko: Where do you get out on Saturday’s?
Nickolai: I usually go fishing, get close to nature, travel, or just go to the cinema.
some relaxing question to follow
Marko: Chinese or Thai (food)?
Nickolai: Neither. It’s rather Belarusian. :))))
Marko: Coke or Pepsi?
Nickolai: Pepsi
Marko: html or css?
Nickolai: Both of them.
Marko: Do you watch television? If so, do you have a favorite show?
Nickolai: Yes, I do, the latest was a reality show “Temptation Island”.
Marko: What would we find in your favorites bookmarks-bar?
Nickolai: As a rule it would be new websites of design companies or freelance designers, technical documentation on website development, or simply links to some useful information.
Marko: What inspires you? This doesn’t have to be design related.
Nickolai: Music, nature, creative work.
Marko: Thank again for having this interview Nickolai, Cheers!
Nickolai: Thank you, Bye!
