Feb 28, 02:31 PM by Marko

Linda Zacks

Interivew with Linda Zacks at extra-oomph.com

Marko: Heya Linda !
Linda: hellohello*!

Marko: For our reader’s could you tell something about yourself? (year old and other stuff)
Linda: i am a brooklyn based art chick and i’m 33- freelancing in all things creative— writing / illustration / design /
bookmaking / painting ///anything goes

Marko: How are you doing these days?
Linda: i’m cold…counting the days until spring can’t wait for the massive bloom
of flowers&plants…shedding the coat and slurping down the sunshine!

Marko: When did you first encounter a keyboard or computer?
Linda: i encountered computers kind of late…i never had one growing up- typed
every paper in highschool on a typewriter- it wasn’t until college that i started
using them.

Marko: What is your favorite art work /website!?
Linda: my favorite website is probably thesaurus.com
i also love to look up song lyrics* andrew goldsworthy’s stuff is amazing,, absolutely magical
& james nachtwey’s photos are really amazing, sue coe, ralph steadman, roald dahl, peter beard

Marko: when you launched extra-oomph.com are you happy with the result of the site?
Linda: funny you ask that—- extra-oomph.com has had many iterations— i think this is the 3rd design-
tried to make it as simple as possible…an invisible container for the work to shine—it’s so hard to make a portfolio site—- looking at your work over&over makes you never want to look at it again-
and presenting it so as not to confuse people— the current design seems to be working pretty well-
it was chosen as one of Step Inside design’s Best of Website Design Winners—I was psyched!

Marko: What do you do in your spare time (We realize that spare time, in this context)
Linda: play with my new puppy, zebedee,,, do as much exercise as possible, try not to eat too
much chocolate, go quietly crazy, try to figure out ways to get my work seen, stare at the sky,
scribble in my sketchbook, kiss my boyfriend

Marko: Do you have a favorite drink? How much of it do you drink?
Linda: sometimes mojitios, sometimes chocolate milk

Marko: Would you care to give us a brief overview of what a typical day is like for you Linda?
Linda: no day is typical : )

Marko: I am always wondering how people such as yourself go about getting work? How do you do it?
Linda: zap out as many emails as possible and see what bites, visit bookstores and magazine shops and
gather names of people, places, companies who inspire, zap out links to design portals, scour the web
for interesting links&leads

Marko: Who are some of your biggest influences?
Linda: All people creative, songwriters, poets, so many inspiring people around!
I just read a book called “uncommon genius”- people that are the recipients of
the MacArthur Prize, also known as the “genius grant” which is given to a crazy collection
Of exceptional and inspiring people from all walks of life- it’s a great read & tickles the brain

Marko: If you where not a designer what would you be?
Linda: a seahorse, a peacock, or a firefly
