Pulkit Sachdeva Interview

Interview with Pulkit Sachdeva at 1am-media.com
Petar: Hello.
Pulkit: Hello.
Petar: For our reader’s could you tell something about yourself? (year old and other stuff)
Pulkit: Well, my name is Pulkit Sachdeva and I’m from New Delhi, India. My friends know me as PhoeniX. I’m 21 years old and am doing Honors in Statistics and I am also a freelance web designer and a musician. I hope to make it in the music industry very soon.
Petar: mcville wishes you luck with that.
Pulkit: Thank you very much.
Petar: How are you doing these days?
Pulkit: I’m doing fine, thank you.
Petar: When did you first encounter a keyboard or computer?
Pulkit: Well,it was when I was around 8 years old in a computer education class.
Petar: What is your favorite art work /website!?
Pulkit: Ofcourse my favorite website would have to be my own site: http://www.1am-mediaforums.com and http://www.1am-media.com as well.
Petar: When you launched www.1am-mediaforums.com are you happy with the result of the site?
Pulkit: I am very happy with the results. I have had the best talent from all around the world interact on my site and be a part of the events and activities like remix contests and graphic design challenges on the site. I have the coolest people at home!
Petar: What do you do in your spare time? (We realize that spare time, in this context)
Pulkit: In my spare time, which is the time free from all my music production, college affairs and other creative technicalities, I like to drive around in my car, trying to relax myself. I also hit the gym when I need to destress myself. I also like hanging out with my friends every now and then.
Petar: Would you care to give us a brief overview of what a typical day is like for you?
Pulkit: Well, a typical day would involve me getting up a little late, working on a few things for college, going to college, attending movie production and animation classes, music production through the afternoon, working out in the evening, and then the usual stuff through the night and then music production late nights. I’m a pretty regular person.
Petar: I am always wondering how people such as yourself go about getting work? How do you do it?
Pulkit: Well, it happens to be a good mixture of a little bit of good luck, a whole lot of friends in the right places and ofcourse an abundance of well wishes from family and from friends. A little bit of work never hurts to make it worthwhile.
Petar: Who are some of your biggest influences?
Pulkit: Design wise, I’d have to say nature. I never follow any person in particular, nor any style. I personally refrain from attaching myself to any specific genre in digital art. But I have to say, I like vector artwork in general and I try to create the best in the same field. Musically my biggest influences have to be artists like Infected Mushroom, GMS, Skazi along with many other trance acts. I also follow other genres like Metal and Hip Hop and my influences from these would have to be Metallica, Lamb Of God, The Doors etc. I also follow Sufi music being an Indian and so it says a lot about my varied influences.
Petar: Is your background in design? What was the progression into web development and design like?
Pulkit: Actually, my background happens to be in animation. I started working with animation software which ran on DOS long before we had software like Maya and 3DS Max. So it has been a long journey. My progress into design and web developement started when I was around 15 years of age. We had pretty primitive technology back then. But all the hardwork has been worth it. The design scene is picking up now. And that too at a considerable rate.
Petar: If you were not to be a designer/programmer, music producer what would you be?
Pulkit: I’d be in the defense forces for sure. I’d love to be a fighter pilot if not any of the above.
Petar: How do you like our site mcville.net?
Pulkit: I believe it’s one of the best sites I’ve come across. Frankly, with the way mcville gives other sites a chance to promote themselves is highly commendable. I also love the way insights about the field are provided. Being a designer, I’d also like to say that it’s one of the best contemporary designs I’ve seen and I’m truly a fan of the style.
Petar: If you could change something on mcville what would it be?
Pulkit: Now that would be changing the fonts and nothing else. The fonts seem to a little too bold in v8.2 plus they do not have adequate anti-alisation. The rest is very good and direct, also concise. Perfect.
Petar: What kind of music do you fancy?
Pulkit: Well, ever since my Metal band broke up, I’ve fancied having a really good Metal band. Nothing more. I’m just a simple guy.
Petar: What’s your favorite food?
Pulkit: Definitely north Indian food. Can’t go one day without it.
Petar: Where do you get out on Saturday’s?
Pulkit: I actually don’t get out on Saturdays if there’s no urgent requirement anywhere. Saturdays are my days to just lay back and chill. I go out everyday and even when I’m home I don’t get enough time to just ponder over the little things in life.
Petar: Some relaxing question to follow.
Petar: Chinese or Thai (food)?
Pulkit: Chinese… But not too much.
Petar: Coke or Pepsi?
Pulkit: Pepsi please.
Petar: HTML or CSS?
Pulkit: CSS for sure!
Petar: Do you watch television? If so, do you have a favorite show?
Pulkit: Ofcourse I do. My most favourite show on TV is The Simpsons. Definitely! I do admire MANY other shows (as I am a follower of present day trends) but if one name is allowed, it would be The Simpsons.
Petar: What OS do you use?
Pulkit: Windows XP Pro.
Petar: What would we find in your favorites bookmarks-bar?
Pulkit: I do not place favorites in my toolbars. If I like something, it remains in my mind forever.
Petar: What inspires you? This doesn’t have to be design related.
Pulkit: Inspiration definitely comes from everyday life. Especially days when I just feel relaxed and spend time in caring about things that we usually miss out on.
Petar: Thank you for having this interview.
Pulkit: Thank you.
