OS installiation (Windows)

Oct 25, 08:35 PM by n0p

First of:

I will describe a few things for OS sys intalliation

1. Boot CD from OS (in this case WINDOWS XP Professional).
2. Boot Floppy Disk, this isn’t that needed but I use i in case I insall OS on a unbootable CD. From this URL you should find a program for making Startup Disk http://www.bootdisk.com/
3. Well adjusted BIOS – I’m thinking of the Boot settings(First Boot Device)
4. Partition/’s, theres no rules for this but I recommend Partition Magic.
Windows XP System Requirements

PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.*

Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

CD-ROM or DVD drive

Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

Install:

Put XP CD in CD-ROM, Go to BIOS usually under Advanced BIOS Features, change setting First Boot Device on CDROM, save change. After some time this will show:

Then press ENTER, then this show’s:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Press F8 for accepting Licensing Agreement, the you go here:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Choose on what partition you want to install the OS and press Enter, then shows:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Here select the way of formating the Disc and File System,I recommend NTFS File System and “standard” formating, not quike, select setting and press ENTER. This shows:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

That’s a Disc formating, this is shown next:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

It’s about copying needed files to the disc :

The Disc is formated and all needed files also, so we come to the restart. Again go to BIOS under Advanced BIOS Features, change setting First Boot Device to Default, save changes. OS beginsto boot from the Disc, next comes setting configuration etc.

After some time this will show:

Under Customize… change the language, after that press Next and input data, names, license key, time zone.
You came to the endof the install process, now just set the user account, and conigurate the OS by need, insall drivers.

Maybe I should write an article on the installation of Linux. Unfortunately, I don’t have a computer where I need to install it at the moment, so I can’t really walk through the process.
