Interivew with Jocelyn Stewart at minties.com
Marko: Heya Jocelyn <3_<3 !
Jocelyn: hola! :)
Marko: For our reader’s could you tell something about yourself? (year old and other stuff)
Jocelyn: I’m a 26 (almost 27!) year old girl obsessed with iceland and photography
Marko: How are you doing these days?
Jocelyn: Tired! I just started working a 3rd job! Great fun and free coffee!
Marko: When did you first encounter a keyboard or computer?
Jocelyn: Age 5, maybe even earlier? My mom is a court reporter, and has always
needed several computers for work. I grew up proofreading and lugging her
laptop around.
Marko: What is your favorite art work /website!?
Jocelyn: I guess my very very favorite would be www.fromamouth.com
Marko: when you launched minties.com are you happy with the result of the site?
Jocelyn: Yes and no. I am a perfectionist, so once it was done, I thought the design
was weak and boring and I wanted to change everything. But there wasn’t
anytime, so we just went with it!
Marko: What do you do in your spare time (I do realize that spare time, in this
context, is pretty relative)?
Jocelyn: Currently I am working on two books that should be published next year.
Marko: Do you have a favorite drink? How much of it do you drink?
Jocelyn: My favorite drink is called Synergy, and it is a kombucha tea. I try to
drink it everyday. My other favorite drink is coffee, and you don’t even
want to know how much I drink.
Marko: Would you care to give us a brief overview of what a typical day is like
for Jocelyn Stewart?
Jocelyn: I wake up, usually around 8 or so, turn on my computer, check email, forums
stuff like that
Then if it’s nice out, I’ll walk to work, come home, and do more work,
usually in front of the tv with my cats and boyfriend.
After that, if I’m still awake, I’ll go online and chat with friends and
work on my websites.
Marko: I am always wondering how people such as yourself go about getting work?
How do you do it?
Jocelyn: I live in a really small town, and it’s all about who you know. My newest
job, I already knew everyone there, and they wanted me to work there too – so I did!
My other two jobs are online, and they always keep me busy, but I really
missed having a “regular” job where I had coworkers and interactions with
real people. It’s a nice change.
Marko: Who are some of your biggest influences?
Jocelyn: Well, this is going to sound pretty tacky, but I have to say nature. Very
simple things, crisp autumn air, a shooting star, a sunset.
Marko: Is your background in design? What was the progression into web development
and design like? How did that take place and why?
Jocelyn: No, actually my background is in business, sales and marketing. I made my
first webpage in 1997 to impress a guy (yes, I am a true nerd).
Marko: If you where not a designer/programmer what would you be?
Jocelyn: a curator of fishes
Marko: How do you like our site mcville.net?
Jocelyn: It’s nice, easy to navigate, and I love the colour palette. It also looks
great on my huge res (1600×1200)
Marko: If you could change something on the site what would it be?
Jocelyn: The expanding menus. Not a fan ;)
Also it’s not IE friendly (I think everyone should use firefox, but there
are still heaps of IE users out there)
Marko: What kind of music do you fancy?
Jocelyn: operatica, oliver messiaen, natacha atlas, björk, ghostigital
Marko: What’s your favorite food?
Jocelyn: brussel sprouts!
Marko: Where do you get out on Saturday’s?
Jocelyn: no where! i sleep!
some relaxing question to follow
Marko: Chinese or Thai (food)?
Jocelyn: both please :D
Marko: Coke or Pepsi?
Jocelyn: coffe?
Marko: html or asp?
Jocelyn: html
Marko: Do you watch television? If so, do you have a favorite show?
Jocelyn: degrassi
Marko: What would we find in your favorites bookmarks-bar?
Jocelyn: http://4um.bjork.com/
http://sugarcube.net/4UM/index.php

What inspires you? This doesn’t have to be design related.
everything! but right now, I am typing up a book of my grandmother’s
poetry, and it is made a huge impact. Very unexpected, actually. I have a
million photo ideas, and I’m just about 10 pages into it!
Marko: Thank again for having this interview, cheers m8!
Jocelyn: Anytime! :)
